Laws Conflicting with the Constitution

I’ve always wanted to look at the United States Code to see how much of what congress has put through violates the obvious meaning of the constitution. Since I occasionally have some spare time when working at the hotel, I’m going to go through and see what I can find what I believe violates the constitution.

While doing this, I’m going to take a “realistic” look at the wording of the constitution. I’m not going to hold that a requirement to obtain a permit for a parade be held as unconstitutional, providing that such a permit is issued irrespective of the view expoused by the parade (that is, safety limitations not including some form of heckler’s vito). I’m also not goign to go crazy over a limitation of firearms ownership by conviced serial killers.

This is a big job. I’m going to go through the bill of rights one at a time to see what improper limitations I can find for each one. I don’t know what I expect to compe out of this, but it would be interesting to see if we can get action on the part of congress. I will list references to each bill and possibly the text or reasons behind my argument. I’d love comments and suggestions on what I post.

I plan on starting with the 1st amendment. This will take several days because Congress has a tendency of being verbose.

And so it begins.
