My first telemarketing call

Well, I finally received my first telemarketing call. I wasn’t sure if or when this would happen. You see, I use Vonage for my phone service right now. I’ve been really impressed. The only problem I’ve run into is that it will occasionally shut down my entire Internet connection when I call my parents. No, this is not intentional. Anyways, that hasn’t happened in a few months, or when calling anybody else. I was thinking that maybe VoIP numbers were treated more like cell phone numbers than home phone numbers.

In the end, it was my credit card company calling me to let me know that I could send them more money per month for the benefit of not having to worry about loosing my job or sudden illness. A payment protection scheme. The funny thing is, I’ve been given a horribly small limit and a horrible interest rate (28.8 %) because I’m a “bad credit risk” due to having no credit history in the Unites States. So they already assume that they aren’t going to get their money, and turn around and ask my to pay them to “secure my credit rating”! What credit rating !?! If it came with an interest rate reduction of, oh, 20% I might just take them up on it. But otherwise, I see no benefit to me.
